What is your favorite keying software/plugin for premiere or after effects cs5? I'm not worried about the price. I want something that can really get the job done. Thanks for the help.

AE CS5 has Keylight which is amazing as well.

Primatte keyer blows keylight out of the water, imo.

Why though? Do you have a good video example of primatte? How long does that take to learn?

+1 on Primatte. - it does a cleaner job with "difficult" codecs. More tools to clean up your matte.

im using a 7d, ive read the color space isnt flattering for green screen but that it can be done right to, with that in mind is primatte the choice?

I have a 7D too among other cams, I do a lot of green screen work for corporate. And since you asked, I figured I do a test, now since I had the 7D I was not doing a project lately that required a green screen, so I coerced my son to stand in the green screen just so we can satisfy each others curiosity.

Ok, the mov file straight out of 7D is not so ideal to deal with in keying. Not impossible, but not ideal.

Since I also use edius and a spark card, i converted the file to HQ, which is similar to cineform or say, prores. Now taking the converted file back into AE for keying, now it was much better.

I did a combination of primatte, then a bit of matte choke. Its doable, and acceptable.

I've found Keylight to be very impressive.

I mask off the area so get a 100% "key" for that and then use Keylight to just finish off last few pixels around the talent etc. for a very clean final image.
