So, I was just wondering, what are people's ambitions? Hollywood or just getting some positive feedback on the Sci-Fi Fest?

LOL! I would like to write and direct a feature someday.
B-man. If you haven't started writing it, DO IT NOW! There will never be a better time. I spent the last ten years waiting for a better time. You have to make things happen or they won't.

My true ambitions are to be able to do enough with all this gear to let me quit my job.

I'd love to be the next Roger Corman. I'll just make crap for very little money and turn a profit. Repeat.

I just wanna make one killer feature before I turn 30.

I don't care about making money or anything off it, as long as I make one that people enjoy, I can die happy.

Is there a difference between working on crap, and making crap. I have been working on crap for about 13years, it has been the birth of this little baby (DVX) that has finally let the reality of me doing my own thing true.

Docs, docs and more docs. The longer I can stay away from cheese the better.

Right now it's practicing and hoping to get into Sundance. And hopefully that's a launch pad for full time so I can start livin the dream, brother! Chicks are cool too.

Well put Filmjunkie. I feel the exact same way. But once I make that one killer feature, I'd want to make more just as good if not better.

I want to finish post-production on my current feature get it distributed, then start all over again. I've got screenplays stacking up with no end in sight. I've also got six different stories laid out and waiting to be written. As soon as Hollywood Gothic is done, I'll be able to give them the attention they need.

Here's my evil plan . . .

1. Write, direct, and shoot a short feature which satisfies three criteria: A. Not boring, B. No fake acting. C. Credible, believable, compelling story.
2. Drop it off at CAA and ICM (high-powered talent agencies).
3. Tell the CAA/ICM guy, I made this for $4,000.
4. Sit back and wait for the call to direct a $1,000,000 35mm feature.
5. Make the $1,000,000 feature and have it make a pile of money for the studio/distributor.
6. Get a shot at directing a $20,000,000 feature.
7. Thank my mom at the Academy Awards before she gets too old and dies.

I'm not sure if Oscars enter my ambitions really. I would rather the "people" loved the film:beer:.

I'd rather make Terminator 2 than English "Zzzzz" Patient.

I'm still waiting for a crushing negative reply, saying what dreamers we are...

What a bunch of dreamers....you'll never make it! Quit now, while you still have a life left to live!!!

J/K....I'm like the rest of you...and like B-Man, I'm gonna jack NBCShooter's plan

i would like to write/direct features... right now i'm doing short films basically to get some experience in making films getting the editing process down etc etc and making films for my friends and family to watch and such... i want to enter some short film contests as well.... but one day i hope to write/direct feature films for a theatrical release and such... yeah i know its setting the bar high and all but it gives me something to work for.

I would like to shoot(with a very, very good HDcamera), cut my film, add effects and 3D to it (on the way of getting better and better in it), and earn a lot... I like to to a pearl harbour like film. but it is just a hobby :)

NBCShooter - the only problem I see with your plan is step #4.
No master plan should have a step that starts with "sit back and wait"

you are right!

Since I cant write Graffiti anymore and I have an unquenchable desire to put my name on things, I figured this was the next logical step.
