What is wrong with my grabs/resolution???

I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

I'm shooting with a DVX100A, 24p, squeeze mode. Then I capture w/ FCP, here are the specs:

"24 frames per second
H.264 at best quality
24 bits per pixel
720 by 480 (anamorphic 16:9)
WARNING: Audio device is missing
Input: first 2 channels
Format: 48000 KHz 16 bit 2 channel
speaker: off
volume: 100, Gain: 0

Any ideas/suggestions?

Why are you capturing H.264? That's for exporting to the Internet not capturing from your camera. Also frame rate should be 29.97 not 24. Check out the forum FAQs which explain the right settings.

What is the best preset besides H.264 then?

DV/NTSC...use the Easy Setup. That is a straight 1 to 1 digital lossless transfer of your footage from camera to computer. Then edit DV/NTSC, and only encode to h.264 when your cut is complete.
