what is this?

What kind of camera is this?
And what is the cord attached to it? I identified the pocket wizard. But not sure what the other gear is and what it's for.

dont know what kind of camera but that cord is going to a laptop behind him it looks like. I'm betting he's capturing straight to the laptop.

It looks like a medium format camera with a digital back. So it's probably either a Mamiya or Hassleblad (or maybe a rollei). I don't know of any other MF cameras with digital backs.

Very big file sizes so they are tethered to a laptop. Usually used for the studio.

Medium format digital has very little over a Full frame Canon in today's market except maybe dynamic range. Lenses on a full frame are faster (shallower) and sharp enough to almost uprez to around 30 MP. Also Canon sensors are so much cleaner than digital backs. The only benefit I can see with medium format is if you need a lot of dynamic range.
