What is the ultimate GPU for CS5?

For the ultimate graphics card, with a $1500 budget would be the Quadro 5000, i wish i could get my hands on it, that card can do it ALL! Mid-Range would be the FX 3800, though the most reasonable are the GTX 470 and GTX 285

As far as SSD drive go, if you got the money! They are super fast and with no moving parts, thats one less thing that can go wrong. But the prices are dropping a little bit, the longer you wait the cheaper itll be.

I am using a GTX470 and it keeps 3 layers of avchd going strong just fine. That card came with this system but If I were buying one I might go for the 480, its a bit faster but also has the better heatpipe cooling solution. Its power hungry though at about 250w max.

The 470 is supported by Adobe whereas the 460 and 480 are not. If Adobe decide to block the hack in future (like Panasonic have blocked the gh1 hack), you may rue not getting a supported card. I got the 470 for this reason and it works like a charm. All my gh13 footage plays back seamlessley at full resolution.

Why would they not support a more expensive GPU than the 470? It's usually the cheaper ones they dont support, in turn making you spend more money (evil pact with nvidia). That doesnt make sense to me.

this is a video i did of my system running w7 with cs5 and a gtx480 with the hack. ive since upgraded to 12gb of ram <----a must, i found out later. oh and if you are going to get an ssd for the os. do yourself a favor and dont get anything less than 80gb at a minimum. with a 6k budget that shouldnt be hard :) I have next to zero programs installed alongside the os and cs5 on the ssd and its just not enough(64gb ssd) although i do have the entire master collection installed..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lyJxBtQqMg

Thanks Jeremy.

I have ordered the transcend 128 ssd with 3 WD 1T Drives. I think that should do it.
Very excited, my system should arrive next week sometime, even more excited after watching your clip.

The 460 also over clocks like a charm, and if you get one with a good heat sink and quiet fans, you've got a great bargain. I thought I had a relatively fast system with my GTS250 512mb (non-MPE) , but that 460 is a whole other level of quick.

I cant get past the fact that I'm folding on my 470 whilst editing AVC footage and it doesnt hiccup.

Would getting the (by Adobe recommended) Quadro 4800 be a waste of money compared to 470?? ..or any other for that matter.
