What is the standard format for high definition cinema projection?

Hi there,

I am shooting a short film using an XDCAM EX workflow. I am not intending to go for a 35mm blow up. High definition and film are different beasts so why confuse things is my philosophy if you started with high def in the first place. Instead I am simply wanting to finish to high definition. What is the standard format for high definition projection? Is it HDCAM SR?

Cheers

Depends on where you are projecting. At film festivals, it's normally HDCAM or from a file playing from a computer (which could be any number of codecs.) If you are talking about your local theater that has 2k digital projection, then it's a special DCI wrapped file which they are sent--I believe JPEG2000 is the codec.
