after read the book by bary green, as he said the best detail setting will be around -5 ? or should i go to extreme -7 or stay at 0 ?the shoot coming up where the director want the fianl look like movie call PIANO. you guy go tany tip to set up the camera ?
I haven't actually seen the Piano. But I kind of recall the look from the trailer being very soft. Maybe softer than even a detail setting could get you. I'd set the detail at -5 or even higher (-3?) and then use a filter like Tiffen Black Pro Mist, or even the pro mist for whispy highlights. See what kind of look you get and run it by the Director.
Or you could shoot it straight at 0 and soften it to your liking in post. That way, you don't accidentally go too soft during production (a mistake you'd have a real tough time doing anything about in post).
