No, even 7200rpm USB3 is gonna be troublesome in 4K. maybe simple things... but also depends on what codec 4K you use.Would a USB 3 with a 5500rpm drive be fast enough for 4K video?
What sort of videos can you edit with USB 2?
That's an 8 year old computer, with an 8 year old graphics card. You'd be better off spending money on a new computer rather than on upgrading that one.OK, I got a 2008 Macpro 3,1 eight core 2.8ghz, 12gb of ram with a GT120 512mb graphics card. I have a 1tb 7200rpm drive in there.
I will be using Premiere Pro CS6.
Any suggestions on cost effective upgrade I should do to this mac so I can do 4K?

The CPU bus, memory bus and PCIe bus are all slower than what would be found in any current workstations. A current iMac would be a better investment than upgrading that old Mac Pro.

What would be the minimum setup for PC and Mac Pro needed to video edit in 4K?
[*]...can use a 2006 dual macpro as long as it has this and that?....I will be using Premiere Pro CS6.
