I see the vegas 6 alone cost more than the platnium which cost less and i was wondering if that make any differ on the editing software or is vegas 6 alone is better than platnium?

Well, most pertinent to the DVX, Vegas 6 edits 24p; Platinum doesn't.

The full version of Vegas has a lot more functionality.

But the Movie Studio versions of Vegas are great places to start.
