What is the cheapest decent remote pan/tilt?

Since Kessler's Revolution doesn't have exact repeatability like I had initially thought it did, I am thinking of just getting a cheaper pan tilt. I will only be using it on the end of my crane. What are my options?

I hate to say it but the Kessler a cheaper head. You could buy from India, but the kessler is on the low end, and looks great for the price.

I'm looking at kessler and the servocity pt-2100, the roll feature makes it very appealing, its also faster with the pulleys and faster motors or dual motors.

Yeah I am considering the varizoom mc50 grant. Chris do you have a video that shows how fast the camera turret can go?

Could you expand more on the Kessler system. Why couldn't you get repeatability? The control certainly seems capable. Was it slop in the drives? Did you talk to Eric?

Sure. While you can record and repeat moves. There is no feedback so you can't return the camera to the exact same spot with the head. If you have the slider you can do some cool stuff but it is still by no means even close to comparable to something like the 15k+ Varizoom Cinema Pro Jr.

When I first stumbled onto it I thought it was motion control since it says motion control, close but no cigar. It still looks like a good deal and I have the kc-lite 8.0 crane and really like it. The Kessler stuff is built great.

Since it is all just remote control heads though, I think I will be going with the Servocity one for the simple fact that it has the dutch roll feature and 3 axis vs Kessler's 2. It also lets me go lots faster which is a huge plus for me.

I can't wait until the slider/remote head motion control from Kessler comes out in a month or 2. It has keyframes and feedback for exact repeatability. It has zoom and focus motors too!!! Now they say that will be $5,000-6,000. That is a STEAL I will be waiting for.

Thanks Dajavu,

I would love to add a better head to my 8-12, but have been sitting on the sidelines to see how the new Kessler stuff works out.

I've seen enough. The day that motion control rig hits I'm buying it. The exact repeatability does it for me but the zoom and focus are huge too. Endless possibilities.

I went ahead and bought the servocity.com pt-2100 with the roll option. I will report back soon. They shipped it out same day and said I would have it in 3-4 days. I also opted for some extras with it.

Yeah I saw enough footage from the pt-2100 and read enough about it to take the jump. The roll feature making it 3 axis vs most other being 2 axis was a huge plus for me. It is also faster than any others at a comparable price which is another huge plus. I will post video when I get it.

I am very interested to hear about what you think of the pt-2100, do you feel you made the right choice, did you end up reviewing it?

Can you tell a bit about your experiences with the camera turret head? I'm planning to buy one soon, and would appreciate to read about it from someone who used it several times.
What did you like about it and what were you missing in it, what limits did it have? From the test videos it souds noisy for me - compared to the varizoom mc100 for ex. - did ou have problems with that?
If you have experience with other remote heads, compared it to other them what are the main differences? The other thing in my mind is kessler rev2 head or varizoom mc100

Thanks a lot,
Máté
