what is the best you can get from a letus fe?

Hi am new to the letus and 35mm adapter world, I have beeen playing with the letus and a Canon fd 1.1.4 lens but the images are still a little dark maybe some one can share some camera settings or advise a better lens to use so i can get the most light in ?

I am also having problems focusing if I use an open aperture light is ok but the image is blurry if i use a setting of 5.6 image is good but to dark! any help would be great!

Try this routine:
- Leave the Letus turned off.
- Set the Canon lens wide open for starters.
- Set the DVX to manual focus and auto-iris (at first).
- Zoom into the Letus focus screen until the vignetting is gone - then flip the zoom to servo to keep it locked there (it should be it z89 to z99).
- Now focus the DVX on the grain of the focus screen until the little black flecks are in perfect focus.
- Now turn on the Letus motor and the grain should disappear
- Focus with the Canon lens only, you should not need to change the DVX focus again.
- Open the DVX iris all the way and use the ND filter if you need to darken.

If you do this and still the sweet spot of the Canon lens seems to be only reachable at 5.6 then you can probably only use that lens out in the sun. Do you have the same problems with other lenses or just this one?

Movie Master,

I think you aren't getting enough light the DVX shouldn't have any problems with a f/1.4 at all. I just shot a movie with a PV-GS 150 - Letus 35 - and a combination of a 24mm f/2.8 (nikon) and a 50mm f/1.8 (i think) and had no light problems.

I only used two light sources two 550 watt 3200k Smith Victors. Nothing fancy and the shots came out nice. My understanding is that the Letus is a lot more light sensitve (loses more stops) than the brevis so you just need to have the light there to begin with.

Anyway keep us posted on how it comes out.
