I want to make some sound effects. Everything from hammer hits, to maybe a cricket. So my question is when I am outside or inside, is there a way to isolate the sounds you want. Like maybe some sort of DIY portable sound box.
The normal way I would do it is get the mic closest to the subject. For indoor, I have recorded in my clothes closet to minimize sounds. But out in my garage I can hear birds during the day and frogs at night. The best time is the dead of winter when it is very quite to record sound fx.
Just curious to hear your experiences.
