AY-DVM63MQ Master Quality Dry-lube tape, included in the box when you buy the camera, best for trouble free shooting for the life of the camera. There are many available discussions on DVXuser about this, do a search for "MQ tape" or "Master Tape". Yes, I believe it is true that it is best not to switch brands during the camera's life, due to many testimonials from my clients. Try to buy the best tape, you wouldn't put Economy gasoline into a Sports car ;D

Definitely you should go with the AY-DVM63MQ or any MQ size dry lube tape.
The PQ that came with my camera jammed in my camera the first time out and injured the drum... I replaced the camera and when I tried to recover footage from the tape in my DV deck it caused a drum error in it too.
Most people say not to mix the tapes (wet and dry lube) so get the MQ and STICK with it.... no pun intended.

I work for Sony Music and I’m not endorsing our tapes at all just telling you my experience with tape. In my XL1 & XL1S’s I have been using PDVM-40N DVCAM since 1999 and in my DVX100A the same tape. Sony DVCAM & DV decks have had no problem playing any of them. When shot in 29.97 frame mode or 24P advance. My advice is what ever you put in the DVX 100 do not change. What you first put in should stay in. Sony uses wet lube in the DVCAM and Panasonic uses dry. If you mix you could get a glue like mess on the heads.
