what is causing this pixellation?

I've attached 2 pics. All the footage looked fine until recently. Now this pixelation can be seen on the wall in the background and in other shots.

I have a chroma-keyed (and masked) top-most layer for the logo watermark in the lower right hand corner of the video. I thought maybe the chroma effect was translating into the pixelation, but when I muted it's track, the pixelation remains.

I seem to remember this occuring long ago on another project, and just had to live with it. Anyone have any ideas?

Notice the pixelation on the wall, lower left.

Same pixelation, behind the lady, to her right, again on the wall.

It also seems that EVERYTHING is less crisp and clear, every is a little fuzzy, pixelated, etc. The people all seem less clear as well in the footage.

I rendered out the avi (from which these pics were taken, but the original timeline footage now looks the same), at 3MB/s, and everything is more pixelated than should be it seems.

Wow. What could've caused this?

Could be dirty recordingheads that corrupted the frame.

Maybe I'll run the cleaning tape through it. Recently, my capture camera won't be detected by Vegas, so I have to use my DVX to capture for now... man I HATE that!

However, regarding the footage, I don't recall noticing this pixelation until recently, (seemingly when I added that chroma-keyed watermark logo on the lower right) though I've had the footage on the timeline and have been editing it for a few weeks...!

I just discovered something else...

Say a particular clip on the timeline (like the ones the pics I posted are from) show this pixelation...

If I open it in the trimmer, there is no pixelation!

So what is happening on the timeline that is causing this screw-up?!?

What's more, if I move that un-pixelated clip from the trimmer up to the timeline to replace the pixelated one, IT BECOMES PIXELATED TOO!

There are no effects on the timeline that are causing this. WHAT COULD IT BE??? (deadlines, people!)

Okay, so if I drag clips that appear normal from the trimmer up to the timeline, they become pixelated and altered.

Here is a pic from the timeline.

If I start a new project and move it to the new timeline, it does NOT become pixelated and screwy.

So... at least in this particular project, there appears to be something going on that messes with my clips once moved to the timeline. What could this be?

So it is something in your current project that making this screwup. Since there are 3 places you can add filters, can you check all three of them?

What is the 3rd place? There is only a glow effect at the beg/end of certain clips, and I didn't do the ol' accidental "apply effect to the left track banner" thus apply to entire timeline (which I do from time to time).

So if I didn't do it there, not sure where else I did.

The project is 18 min long, yet took 4 hrs just to render the .avi. Maybe I should've pre-rendered it in segments along the way.

You can effect to

Single clip
Entire track
Entire project

Entire project is located at the preview window.

That the project took so long to render looks like you have some type of extra filtering.
