What is a "tripod"?

Just kidding. I know there are a thousand tripod posts, but I have a quick question:

I currently have access to a Bogen 3063 on 3046 sticks and it produces pretty good results.

What kind of improvement in motion/usability will I see if I upgrade to the 501 or 503? Is it worth it?
 
I was about to reply with something about a three leg dog, but never mind.

As for either the 501 or 503, yeah it is certainly worth it. I have the 501, but will likely replace it with a 503 pretty soon. Not that the 501 is bad, just that the 503 is enough better to make it worth the difference in price.

Have you tried the 3063? I think that Bogen replaced it with the 501, but it seems pretty comparable to the 501 from what I've read. Do you know what changed besides the QR plate and the look?
 
Not certain what they changed as I never did use the 3063 myself, but I know that it was supposed to be an upgrade in other areas besides the the quick release. If you can, go for the 503, I think its worth the difference in price.
 
what about bogen 503 and 516
the 516 is allmost duble of the price.
does the difference of the quality worth that extra money?

Not for me, but you'll have to try them out to find out for yourself. I went with the 503.
 
I actually have a three legged dog.....its getting old and shits all over the place, but other than that its cool.
 
Heck...maybe it ran to my house. No actually mine was hit by a truck...and needed an amputation.
