What is a good starter digital SLR camera?

I shoot on the Nikon D80, and I absolutely love it. Check out some of the past few pages in the Nikon thread to see some of my nature photography for examples.

No, not really. I would like to, but i'm not very sure about the intervalometer I would need to use to do that. If you are really big on shooting time lapse, I would go with the D200.

I use the Olympus E-500 and 510. 8 mega pixel and 10 respectively. The 510 has OIS built into the body, both come with sonic dust filter so no dust or spots on pics ever. I am just getting into photography so I wouldn't know a Nikon from a bran muffin but these days they're hanging off most peoples necks along with Cannon. As I stretch my new photographic wings using only manual settings, the Oly has done a real great job of covering my newbie butt delivering first class work more often than not. This is my theory that is mine.

PS They also hold two memory card types being the tiny XD picture card and the big old compact flash boat. My 510 has a 2gig XD and a 4gig CF which I have yet to fill up on any shoot.

Hmm...Costco has a nikon d40x 10.1 megapix package with 18-55mm lens and 55-200mm lens with 1 gig sd card, case, and li battery. They have Canon eos rebel 10.1 megapix xti package to 18-55mm lens and 75-300mm lens, 1 gig sd card, case, battery. Are these good deals? Which is better cam or is it a toss up?
