What is a good on camera light kit?

I do alot of indoor/lowlight event shoots. I have one of those crummy wal mart type led lights but it basically does nothing except put a direct bright light into the subjects face.

I don't really have that big of a budget, but want something good... I would like it to be on camera, and have a decent battery life. Most of the venues dont have any electrical sockets so It needs to have a rechargable battery back.

Thanks in advance for your help.

LitePanel Mini is low-draw, dimmable, easily color corrected and generally the new industry-standard.

Lowell has great 3 point kits that wont break the bank. MIne was well worth it although I hardly ever bust it out.

Re: Litepanels

When is someone going to create an "affordable" litepanel knockoff? If I had the time to go to Radioshack and connect enough leds into a project box, I would have it knocked! The mini is almost $1000, and the ring is over $2k! Someone please come out with an affordable solution....
