Hi I've been trying to use a little Panasonic camcorder to do my capturing and stuff with but It's not working now and I'm just not sure if I should keep trying to go that route.

What is a deck that is pretty cheap yet is also known to work well with FCP?

Thanks guys!

I've been using a camcorder for a while now with no problems. for the price, it is a decent option. maybe your camcorder needs head cleaning or serviceing or something. I use a tape rewinder whenever possible.

often recommned..sony dsr-11.

any deck would work fine, agian the question is how much do you want to spend? I do what pooh does, I use a regular DV camera to do my capturing and viewing.

will a regular miniDV camera like a canon Z series allow you to capture 24p footage into Final Cut Pro? Or do you need a fancy deck?

I'm using a JVC SR-vs20 and it works great (cost me about 700 on ebay)

You can play footage shot in 24P format on any miniDV deck or camera that supports minidv tapes.
