What is a good 27 inch computer monitor?

I have been using a 20 inch Dell UltraSharp Monitor and have always loved it. For my needs, it is what I need.

Now I want to go bigger, like a 27 inch Monitor.

What do you recommend, something not to expensive.

I do like the DellTM UltraSharpTM U2711 27-inch Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor. It is around 800 hundred. Is this still a good option, or do you suggest something else. hopefully cheaper

I won't calibrate it, just using it straight from the box.

Thanks

The reason that the Dell costs so much more is that it is an IPS panel, which is preferred. You'll be hard-pressed to find a better or cheaper IPS monitor.

I think the even bigger reason there is the Dell's resolution is much, MUCH higher. That one on Newegg is 1080p. The Dell model is 1440p.

Anyway, I use two Apple displays with the same panel that's in the Dell (I actually almost bought the Dell specifically, but got mine refurbished for use a hair less than the Dell was at the time); I believe the backlight is different, but not far off. I adore mine. I'm sure it would serve you well.

(And yeah, the IPS aspect is nice, especially for those of us who have multi-monitor solutions, or who use our machines as media centers too).

Hi, I bought the DellTM UltraSharpTM U2711 27-inch Widescreen Flat Panel monitor. Nice monitor, but in the little room I have, it really warms up and puts out a lot of heat. Is this normal?
Is there anything I can do to it, or adjust a setting?

I am thinking of getting the Asus pb278q or the Asus vs278q-p The pb is 474$ and the vs is 274$
I know the Asus VS278q-p is not a Profesional monitor, but I heard good things about it and hopefully it would be good enough for video editing and graphics.
Would like to know if it puts out heat like the dell?

World this work as a client/director monitor? Overkill, not good enough?

I think it's kind a weird to have a PC monitor as a client monitor... Not to mention you don't have an SDI input. Yeah you can buy a SDI to HDMI, but I have so bad experience with HDMI.
