What I/O card do you use for CS5.5? & going to use with CS6?

Looking for input on I/O cards that you like and work best with Premiere. I need to replace mine. Its a Kona LHe on a Mac Pro. I have a few reasons for needing a new card but mainly because Aja and Davinci Resolve don’t play together. So I need a Blackmagic card.

I find analog capture is so rare these days I probably don’t need to invest in it but obviously monitoring is the big deal.

What card do use and what will you be upgrading to for CS6?

A side question: Does anyone use the Intensity Pro with Ppro CS5.5? I was thinking of getting one for the short term. I was reading a thread that it works with Resolve. Would be a quick fix while I save up.

I am waiting for CS6 and 'Transmit" before I decide how to handle external monitoring. I may dust off my Black Magic cards or I may need to buy something new.

Less than a month ...I guess... before I know which way to skin this cat .

I dont really expect any need for 'IN' / 'OUT' to/from any analogue video devices.

Me too. How are you monitoring now? You use Resolve as well right?

I use a 2 x large monitor set up for Premiere Pro CS5.5.

One is the GUI for the application and the other is exclusively for a full screen Monitor. The monitors are arranged vertically.
I find this is ergonomically a great way to work and view the screen.

For Resolve its a single user interface anyway...but I use the second monitor for the scopes.

Thats interesting. So you don't use any IO cards only graphics cards for monitoring. Do you worry about how accurate your grades are with the PC monitor?

I dont seem to have any issue with my grades.

I follow them thru to the broadcast mastering facilty ..where they are checked and scrutinised thoroughly. Particulalrly for "legal video".

I rely on my scopes as well as the monitors which I have set up to be very consistent in my work chain.

Transmit and Speed Grade may force me into a higher end solution but meantime...no issues.

I use the BM Decklink 3d because it is supported within both CS6, Media Composer 6, and Resolve.

I have a Panasonic plasma for the client to look at, and an FSI 10bit hd-sdi monitor for critical color reference.

I also use hardware HD-SDI scopes.

The reason I avoided using IO cards for a "superior" monitoring solution was that I wanted to avoid the 3rd party Sequence settings. eg BM Presets.

I had far too many issues with those so decided to work only "natively".

Now that Transmit (CS6) will (allegedly) provide a "native preset" solution...I will look into it and cut my cloth differently.
