What I/O box to get to use with FCP?

I was all set to get the Matrox MXO2 or the Mini I/O Breakout Box to use with FCP when someone alerted me the Matrox drivers are Intel Based only! I have an older Powermac G5 and a Macbook Pro laptop.

With that said, is there anything out on the market that would work on both machines that I have listed above? I could just get the MX02 and use it with my Macbook Pro since that is Intel Based, but I do about 95% of my editing with my desktop machine which is not.

I don't have to stick with Matrox, I just liked some of the extra features their breakout boxes came with thats all.
 
I think a FW based solution is your only bet for I/O. Have you looked at the MOTU V4HD? If you just want output check out the original Matrox MXO.

With a G5 and Powerbook, your options are VERY limited. Because those are old machines...talking 4-5 years old, and the makers of IO devices build for current hardware. Firewire based options might be your only way...like the Motu mentioned. Or the IOHD by AJA. Or you can look for used AJA or Decklink cards, like the AJA Kona LHe.
