What will you get if you import (encode) HD footage into a SD software?
1. Is it possiolbe?
2. Will the resolution be twice that of SD?
3. Do you have to copy it (analog) or can you send it over firewire?
Thanks
Gary
If it's an earlier version of Premiere which doesn't handle HD, you'll likely not be able to use the HD footage at all. You certainly won't be able to capture it directly.
Premiere will most likely not even detect the camera -- unless you can feed the HD downconverted to DV from the camera, and then you're capturing DV as if from any DV camera.
"Copied analog" -- not sure what you mean by this.
Quality -- if you have, say, HDV and use some other program to downconvert it to uncompressed SD, you can have more color information that you would with DV, but you'll have the same resolution.
If you can somehow use the HD footage (which likely you can't), you won't have better color than DV, and ultimately you won't have higher resolution, but you should have more freedom to zoom in and move around the frame without losing quality.
But again, as I say, you will very likely not be able to use the HD footage AS HD footage in this older version of Premiere.
Then that won't be HD. Depending on the software, it may be uncompressed (it'll probably be DV or even more compressed), but it'll be SD -- no HD over RCA or S-Video.
what version of premiere?
I was able to edit 1080p or 720p HD footage from an HVX200 with Premiere Pro 2.
I just had to make my own preset for the proper resolution and framerate.
CS3 has presets for DVCPro HD and HDV formats.
Let me re ask the question. If HD (in the camera) is better quality/resolution does that better quality (even if imported by svhs cable) transfer to the computer?
Will the quality be better (not perfect) to SD 720x480?
