What happens when you don't hire good people....

Here's a slightly, uh, modified version. Lots of subtle little changes can make a lot of difference:

And here's the original post (& video):

Sad..... and yet, funny.

I *think* this is an example of what happens when people with too much money (and too little sense?) try to make something on their own. Kind of makes you aware of how great the directors and producers who made these two people stars really were (or are). And here I thought Battlefield Earth was the worst the JT could ever come up with.....

Thoughts?

Every cell in my body hurts after watching that.

This reminds me very strongly of the supposed meeting Quentin Tarantino had before casting Travolta in Pulp Fiction, where Tarantino said to him something to the effect of : "What the hell happened to you?"

Kill it. Kill it with fire.

Tarantino made Travolta cool but truth will out. His hair made me think of this youtube video:

the last time I saw hair like that it was on an Elvis impersonator - I can't believe they actually let that out - I'm stunned

Lol. Now I understand why there are so many rumours about him...

Edit: not that I care, of course:)

Oh dear. Well it kind of takes me back to the C&W music video I shot for "a director" a few years back. I did what was asked of me - shots looked good, but the cheese was more smelly than this. In that case I told the artist not to release it, it stunk and we then redid the whole thing.

This is very sad, how they could let that happen, after all years spent in hollywood they dont know any good dp?

Good for some laughs. I guess the sentiment was there, even if the talent was missing.

BTW, apparently this was shot at John Travolta's home. So yes, that plane you see that looks like it's parked in a driveway, is in fact parked in a driveway - his.

I do have to say, it was nice that he put his housekeeper in the video!

as something inthebusinesspros would want to have out in public

Perhaps if he was a DP...maybe. But he's an actor. You don't know if he's close and personal friends with anyone who actually knows how to use a camera, and he may not have wanted to put out money for a legitimate production.

BTW, why does it matter that it doesn't look good? Isn't the mantra here that "content is king"? And so what if you don't personally like this content? Maybe someone does. And that's all that matters, right? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiight?

Gary, you do realise this is a real video. The track is from a christmas album released as a joint venture between Olivia Neutron Bomb's company, ONJ and John Travolta's company, Constellation Inc.

As someone who has made over two hundred music videos, I think I'm well placed to judge both the content and execution. Both are horrific. The fact that it's been made by two experienced professionals makes it worse, even contemptible, but quite funny too in a scary kind of way.
