What happened to this CoolLight initiative?

What happened was a lot of consultation with customers and people I look to for opinions and they mostly thought whatever we come out with would have to have the removable front part so you could put the par in a softbox. The existing models I have all looked, many similar to the one you linked to, at are just one piece and have no removable part to allow putting in the softbox. So we thought when I get around to getting back to this project (our LED models and their popularity also sidetracked that effort and became our most important products) that I would just start from scratch and make a model like that with removable front part and reflector. The other Source 4 clone of course had similar issues and seemed big and clunky to me so we didn't go ahead with that.

Richard, that's an interesting perspective because one of the reasons why lights such as Jokebugs are so attractive is their size - their 800w (which i have used extensively on a reality show) doesn't look like a behemoth Arri Par... And as such is much more attractive to people like me who between larger projects still do lost of small crew productions where its imperative to allow one lighting person do all lighting set-up.

Actually that 575w unit we had doesn't look all that big in pictures but is fairly big next to the K5600 575w so you might not like it as well. Certainly not as big as the Arri type pars though like our 1200w par.

When we do a 400 or 575, we'll do it a bit smaller than that original "Sports Par" model you saw in my blog, and make the whole front removable so you can put in softbox if you want or add whatever other accessories to it that might be appropriate.
