What free Flash program to use?

[Capt Quirk]

Since I have some time on my hands, I'd like to try my hand at some Flash, and update my site. Buying the actual app isn't necessary since there are so many free ones out there. My questions are, who has tried what, and what is recommended for a beginner?

Anybody doing flash? I tried out a bunch of different freebies, trying to create an intro screen with a movie, and most of the ones I tried won't work with movie formats.
