what format do i render out on?

mpeg2 will open in windows media player and NOT on my dvd player....so what format is best for DVD players?

I use speed edit software
 
for dvd authoring I use the built in procoder express of edius. The dvd preset is straightforward. I choose m2p , program stream. Then author in Encore.

You can use Edius dvd authoring for simple dvds.
 
must be something you didn't do right. you need to give more details as to how you export your MPEG files and how you author it onto the DVD. Even if you do everything right, certain DVD players may not be able to read your disc. but that is rare. i had a feeling you didn't do something right.

give more details.
 
"mpeg2" per se might not open in a PC dvd player like power dvd as this players only play the authored files such as VOB.
 
unfortunately, I have no clue what any of those terms mean....

After I render I pop a dvd in and hit Burn.....something burns becuase i can see it on the finished dvd...I can see some kind of activity burned on the physical disc...but it wont play


do I need another program in order to perform the actual burn?
 
Are you authoring the DVD or just making files, then burning files to a DVD? Edius has a simple "Print to: DVD" option when outputting. Have you tried that?

Ah, that's where your problem is. The way you describe, you'r simply transfering your video file as data into your DVD disc. Your DVD player will not be able to read the file. You need to author it in DVD authoring software such as Adobe Encore or DVD architecture. Basically what those programs do is transcode your file into a format that your DVD can read as video signal out to your TV.
 
I just installed sony's dvd architect. Im trying to import the rendered timeline from SpeedEdit NLE into the Sony program but I keep getting errors.

Architecht cannot seem to read the SpeedEdit files....

UGH...
