What filter to use to dull a metallic sound?

Generally I would say a low pass filter. But you may also want to change the transients a bit. There are plugins but for something this short I would probably do in manually. Really depends on what you want it to sound like.

As a general thing for SFX it is usually easier to record something different or build a sound than it is to alter a sound that is not what you need.

And hardly any "sound" is used on it's own. Part of the "secret" of big film sound tracks is that they "layer up" sounds.
Think about the sound you want, then break it apart and find the parts, then layer up the parts to make the sound you want.

Not everything is layered but probably 90% is. And layering is often as much horizontal than vertical, it's not just stacking a bunch of stuff on top till it sounds like mud.

Mulit-parametric or a 32 band graphic offers the best control. That's a bit of a feeble effect to be considering dulling down - can't you find something with a bit more substance to edit. That sound has very little content to be tweaked.
