What external hard drive is right?

I just bought a used DV100 and I need an external hard drive. My computer is an iMac. My computer guy told me to buy a OWC Mercury Elite Pro FW400, but not 800 or USB. But all the 400's seem to come with either 800 or USB.

Any suggestions for exactly what external HD to buy?

Thanks!

OWC (or MacSales.com) has great external drives or ext cases to put drives into. Do you have the 24inch iMac? The others don't have Firewire 800 on them so maybe that is why the guy was suggesting EP FW400. But you pretty much can get a USB 2 or FW 400 external drive and be satisfied unless you are going to be doing HD. Are you comfortable with possibly building a drive? Cause you can run over to Fry's Electronics when they have those amazing Seagate SATA drive sales (I got a 400 Gig SATA for $100) then got a Adaptec Case (that has SATA and USB 2.0 connections) from there as well for $40 and plop the drive in the case and for $140 you have a really fast external drive. VERSUS a already put together one for something like $200 maybe more? Make sure though that you are (whether it be External or Internal) that the drive itself has a 16mb Buffer and it is spinning at 7200 rpm.
