Hello,

i was wondering where exactly I would find a tripod that could pan and tilt via machine controls and not figidity human hands.

I would say human hands are far less "figidity" than a motorized head. It depends on your application, but a good ol' fluid head mounted on a tripod, and a bit of practice will yield far better results, and far less headache. Unless of course you need to control it remotely, as in surveillence applications, or on a crane, I would say just go with a good fluid head.

Perhaps you're thinking of a "motorized pan head" ?

I've got one of those on the website. Variable speed, with remote. It comes in handy sometimes.

They are available at different websites, but I just used the link to the bescor.

Those can be useful but I've found that this particular model is too quick for my taste. You can't do a smooth slow pan with it. Plus there's no way to ease into the pan. You can get a bit of a jerk when it starts. You can always start slow and ramp the speed, but as others have said a good fluid head will give you better results. I'm selling my Bescor head because I haven't found it practical for what I want to do.

I'm with PDX_DVX...good ol fluid heads with practice on 'em never fail.

Well what are you using it for any-who?
