Hi There,

I can't for the life of me seem to find a definitive answer on this online. I have a 15 minute Canon 7D film I want to burn to DVD in DVD Studio Pro. What quality BitRate and Max Bitrate do you select from DVD Studio Pro 4.0 Preferences to be burn the highest quality DVD (while still ensuring it is playable on most DVD players from the last couple of years?)

Basically what I am looking for is the highest possible quality, but also ensuring it will be compatible.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Have included a screen shot below of the encoding preferences in DVDSP 4.0. Are these default settings ok at 18.0mbps bit rate and 27.0mbps max bit rate?

Thanks.View attachment DVD Studio ProScreenSnapz001.pdf

First you are on the wrong tab unless you have blank HD-DVD's, a HD-DVD burner and a HD-DVD player. You need to select the MPEG 2-SD tab. My standard high quality is 6.9 Mbps Bit rate and 8.4 Mbps Max VBR 2 Pass. You can push to 7.5 or even 8 but some older players get funky that high and unless it is video of thousands of falling leaves or grains of sand (which would fall apart on 7D anyway) most viewers will not see appreciable difference between 6.9 and 8.9 Mbps.
