Re: what else do i need?

Ferrari Enzo, one of the best DVX accessories ever. I keep mine in the back of my fiesta.

Re: what else do i need?

Depends on your budget.

- Extra battery(s). DVXuser sells some on this site, Look at the banners.
- A good tripod. Find a Bogen with a 501 fluidhead. Cheap and works well.
- A shotgun mic. I got the Azden 1x which is only about $150.  It works fine, but you can do much better (Sennheiser) for more money.
- UV Filter ($10) to protect the lens.
- Any large carry bag. So people prefer soft, some prefer hard.

Those are all must haves. If you hunt around (ebay, websites, etc.) you can find all of the above for around $500.

Check out EVS. http://www.evsonline.com
They have a discount for DVXuser members and have good prices and great service. Ask for Rush.

Good luck and welcome to the world of DVX. Your life will never be the same!

Re: what else do i need?

I would say first and foremost of importance is the UV filter. Second only to a good case to carry the camera in (I use a Kata soft case) and then a tripod...then batts....

Re: what else do i need?

From a new user standpoint...I say... UV filter first.
Batteries 2nd. The ones that cost like $160 and last 5 hours. Get a couple of those.
Tapes 3rd
carrying bag 4th
And a Shotgun Mic 5th.
Camera Head cleaning supplies, lens wipe

Honestly, I am glad I held out on accessories for a good month. There's too many damn things you'll want to get for your camera. It's like a paintball gun. You want to keep upgrading the hell out of it.

Re: what else do i need?

all the standard accessory items are ideal.

Lighter fluid and brillo pads to clean the lens...vaseline to lubricate the tape head... screwdrive to fix the clunk... the usual.

(please don't believe this post)

Re: what else do i need?

This has been discussed at length in the hardware section. You might want to scroll through a few pages of that to see some suggestions. Ultimately it depends on your situation. I'd take a good tripod or a good mic over extra batteries because 99% of what I shoot is near a power source.
