I was wondering what programs the large studios use to create DVD menus. I love DVD studio pro but I was wondering what elese there is out there for DVD menu creation.

DVD Menu systems are pretty limited due to the technology of DVD players.

So, you're not going to have a disadvantage using something like DVDSP, which allows you all of the functionality that you can get from a DVD menu.

I assume the "major" studios use Photoshop just like everyone else to design the graphics.

Come to think of it, most DVD menu designs I encounter, even on new releases, really suck.

Yeah. I've noticed that many DVD menus are not up to the standard that I would think they should be. Some look so badly put together that I just want to throw up. However, I really like the Lord of The Rings DVD menus, the transistions add alot to the over all look and feel.

Another really nice one is the Band of Brothers menus, those are probably some of the best ones Ive seen.

One Hour Photo always comes to mind when thinking of menus. It was simple but blended nicely with the film without annoying clips of dialog montage looping every 30 seconds.
