I've been watching some HD clips shot on a JVC HD100 camera.

I have an SD monitor but I think those clips are absolutely amazing quality! What diffrences would I notice in those clips if I were watching on an HD monitor? Is it possible to get similar looking results on a SD camera like the VX2100 seeing as it would also be SD?
Am I right in saying that the HD100 doesn't use the Sony HDV format, but a higher quality HD codec?
