What do you use for playback?

I was using a little consumer Panasonic miniDV camera to playback tapes I shot with the DVX. Well, I left the camera out in the sun and now it doesn't work. Now I have some material that I need to edit and I don't know if I should use the DVX to playback my tapes. What are your thoughts on this? Any recommendations for a low-cost playback option?

P.S. Going back to the little camera...it turns on, ejects, etc....but when I try to play a tape or record, the indicator light start to blink and nothing moves inside the mechanism. Any ideas as to what is going on?

Yes, I did. But it was working fine for about 2 weeks after that. Then one day it starts giving me problems while trying to play a tape. After multiple attempts, it worked. Suddenly last week it just stopped recording/playback. I'm guessing the sun screwed it up, though, since nothing else happened to it after that (or so I think).
