I'm reading up on nuke and tons of the big hollywood blockbusters were done with nuke.

If you could start now what would you learn? after effects? nuke? other?

I know quite a bit about after effects and cinema 4d, just wondering where you think its going or where its already gone...

According to some posts from guys over at CgSociety Nuke is still the big one.
I use Fusion sometimes because it's lower priced and not quite as low level as Nuke.
I'm not into the high end pro VFX anyways so Fusion suits my needs right now.

And they say AE is still widely accepted. There's no reason you couldn't use both.

yeah im feeling like i need to be learning nukex and getting more into maya, just read up on nuke a lot, looks like i will use ae for some things and nuke for others

Nuke is $4500.

You could get Shake (which inspired Nuke) for dirt cheap,
learn lots and lots of technique, and then move to Nuke when you get a job.
