What do you think THE light stands are.

For instance, if someone asked me about C-stands I would swear on my life by 40" Matthews C-stands w/ rising legs.

Now I'm asking YOU about lightstands! thank you!

The company "Amvona" used to sell some very nice stuff at very good prices (and, admittedly a lot of not so great stuff at very low prices). But they seem to have turned into just another useless frivolous social networking website. Dunno what happened to the business that sold lighting equipment? I have several C-stands from Amvona which I like a lot.

C-Stands are fantastic and I have a couple, but packing them is a real back breaker. But one stand isn't right for every task. Sometimes light weight is important, so some of the inexpensive lighting kit stands are handy and easy to pack.

If I am traveling light, I carry two of these boom stands and two generic lightweights in one bag. Total weight under 20#.....plus 75# of ballast.

These lightweight boom stands can hold a Arri 650 or a mic if need be; very handy. If I am going to set up a bigger softbox, I still pack a C-Stand for that.
