Hi, this is my order of operations for editing.
I'm not sure about the specific order for saturation, skin tones and white balance. Do you have a point of view about it ?
I was wondering also if i change the skin tone to be accurate by producing a mask (all the image black and i isolate the skin tone and i tweak it
Thank you in advance,
Have a good day
1) remove artefacts and de-noise
2) FAST COLOR CORRECTION
a) White balance
You can use the White Balance dropper to achieve an accurate starting point…
Example : in this particular case to Tint the whole image towards orange and approximate the 1950’s look
b) Adjust black
black just kissing 0 IRED on the WAVEFORM
c) Adjust whites
Push the whites up to expand my image and get some contrast into it
d) Adjust mids
I tweak the mids as needed
Mids are where the faces live…
e) Adjust flesh tones
Good IRE for a properly exposed face is 60-70 on the WAVEFORM
Use 3-way color corrector to change the flesh tones
By adjusting the color of the MIDS wheel you can introduce the proper hues into a face that need tweaking.
Watch the section of skin tone move until it lines up with FLESH LINE
f) Saturation
Compensate by bumping up the saturation to keep the colors popping
Use the color wheel and dragged towards orange to counteract the blue in the original image
3) vignette
4) color grading
5) simulate a film stock of your choice
Add a 2.35 matte to approximate the old Cinemascope aspect ratio
