I'm cutting 5 movies into 15 half-hour episodes and I'll probably need to put an intro of some sort (30 - 45 secs) at the beginning of each one. Instead of actually doing that work right this minute I figured I'd get on here and post a poll instead!

Do you like your TV packaged with intros that:

Contain footage created specifically for the intro (ex: Star Trek)
Show clips from the series (ex: ER)
Show clips from the episode you are about to watch (ex: the new Battlestar Galactica)
Have none or little footage. Are short and to the point (ex: LOST)
Other

short and to the point. maybe show a quick snippit of each main charachter and dont make some cheesy music playing with someone singing. just put some good music that isnt annoying in and show people what they want.. the charachters..and then end it.. quick. and start the show!

I do like it when a show opens with the first scene, followed by footage created just for the intro, i.e. Star Trek. But I also like intros that are very short followed immediately by the first scene. I think a happy medium would be ideal. I don't like seeing clips from the show.

I like footage specifically created just for the intro. Sort of. My favorite growing up was Gilligan's Island because when it was all re-runs, you could tell how long they had been on the island by what intro you were getting. In the very beginning, I dont think Professor and Maryanne were even in the opening song/sequence. But in actuality, I think the footage GI used was taken from the first ep in which they began their fateful trip aboard the SS Minnow... thus my answer is "sort of"

I liked the Band of Brothers intro. I did think it was a bit tacky at first, but it really got me in the mood. It used clips from the whole series, but modified to look "Ye Olde"... hard to explain.

I also loved how they started with the old guys talking about what you were about to see but then in the last episode ended with the vets and only then revealled their names. Very respectful and possibly the most emotional thing I have ever seen on TV. Sorry...deviation!

Starting with scenes like that is nice. Doesn't CSI start with the murder scene before the title sequence..?

Short and to the point. I like it because I prefer not to watch lengthy opening credits a million times when I watch multiple episodes of a program on DVD..... Feature films seem to have dropped most of the opening credits too (except maybe James Bond), leaving the director, producer credits to the end of the film.

I think I'm going with footage seen only in the intro AND short and to the point. Based on the responses so far that seems a safe bet. (There really isn't much choice now that I've started choosing cut points... not much time left to squeeze in an intro or lengthy credits)
