What do you do with large converted Mov files once you've finished editing?

Hi all,

I converted the files from the 550D into Mov using Mpeg Streamclip to edit, but they're huge and now they're beginning to take too much space on my HD.
What do you do with them? Do you delete them once you've finished editing?
What happens if you want to go back and change your edit? Do you have you convert the files all over again?

Thanks for your advice

Hey altar,

This is the method I usually use after finishing editing a project.

In Vegas you can select to clean out any unused clips. I believe its under the Tools section. Then you can Save As and save the source media of the project with it so you can limit the amount of clips you save. If you need to use other takes, then those are the ones you can go back and reconvert.

Hope this helps,
Andy

Thanks for your reply Andy
What happens if you reopen a project for which you've deleted all the mov files media? You get an error message?
If you reconvert the same original clips into mov files will Vegas automatically replace them in the media bin?

Yes, Vegas will ask for the files and you can reconnect the media. Usually once it finds one file it will search the folder and reconnect other ones as well.

Best,
Andy
