ok, im getting my dvx100a and a 15" G4 powerbook. i will be cutting w/ fcphd. most likely shooting in 24p and 24pa. for the use of narrative shorts/ music videos. anything else i need?
 
Well that question is a bt ambiguous. Do you have lights? How about audio gear?

well yea i know i will need much more than that, such as lights, tripod, etc.. but, as far as editing could i do simple cuts with the powerbook? mostly short narratives/music videos.
 
Oooh. I would imaging so, though I don't know much about Macs or FCP.

I did have to edit a short for some guys once, they had me on (I think) a G4 powerbook with Final Cut 3. That worked out fine.
 
Your going to need some skills! kidding man. Of course you can do simple cuts and dissovles on the power book. Besides the rest of the stuff like lights, etc a good freakin story would be nice! Listen to the Diamond member TC.
 
If you are going to do a lot of editing on your PB, then get an external hard drive. And a lot of RAM.

I concur. Make sure you're getting a 7200 RPM (or better) external HD.
