What device to import footage?

Hey,
I have about 30+ hours of footage shot in 24pa (sc6) and i was wondering how you guys import the footage into fcp. Do you use the camera (don't really want to wear out the heads)? Or do you use a minidv deck? And if you use a minidv deck instead of the camera, does it make a real difference in how the footage is transferred?
 
Use a cheap camcorder or a deck. Deck is faster and more heavy duty. Quality will be the same. If you go for a cheaper camera make sure it can read the time code. Many don't (even Panasonics).
Also useful is s-video on camcorder or deck so you can get high quality video display.
