What deck with DVX?

I have a DVX 100 and it seems the firewire port no longer works (I have tried a different Panasonic camera and that works fine). I use FCP to edit and was wondering if I should buy a relatively cheap Panasonic camera to use solely as a deck or would that mean quality isn't as good and it won't record proper 25p onto FCP? Should I buy something like the Panasonic AG-DV2500 and use that as a deck?

Any camera would work, any deck would work. Quality of footage digitized will be identical.

The quality of imported footage is the same because it's digital transfer. But if you do have the budget you'll find a real editing deck can be a big time saver as they have much faster rewind and fast forward capability. Often they have better error correction on the heads as well so tapes will show less dropouts and the like. I use a DSR-11 with my DVX- great match.
