what computer for cs4

what is a good window computer is good to run cs4?... what about Gateway FX6800 Ci7 920/3GB/750GB it is good enough or not

Don't know much about gateway PCs so I can't comment on them specifically, but the i7 is a great processor and will handle whatever you throw at it. A single hard drive probably isn't going to cut it. Better off using a single drive for your OS and a raid setup for your video.
 
just get a dell. Bascially ANY quad core with at least 4 gigs of ram is adequate. My quad core computer which is 2 years old still crunches through hd footage. heck i remember when they were editing hdv with cineform on single core pentium 4s about 4 years ago. with todays computer tech we are spoilt and getting the fastest and most expensive computer won't be that much faster than the entry level one.
 
The video card matters in the Windows version of Premiere, so look for a good one.

But why not just run it on a Mac if you're a Mac guy?

My guess is that he has a older system and Apple does not offer any good Quad Core system with a dedicated graphics card for under $1,000.00 like Dell and HP.
 
Mac is very good, but you can do great job with 1000$ new PC. Quad core, 4go ram(min for a new pc) Vista 64 (so 8go ram should be great), and a good graphic card ( or 2 with SLI for multi monitor)
