what is a really good codec to use for my film if I want it to be a small download file on the internet. I want to have maximum audio and video while stil having a small DL size that people w/o very fast conections can DL in good time.

H.264. Try it, you'll see. Viewers must have Quicktime 7 to view it, of course. And, most people on the internet do not have Quicktime 7... Otherwise, I don't know what to tell you. The others I would suggest (Macromedia and Windows Media) require additional encoders that are not included in FCP.

H.264 will knock your socks off even with microscopic file sizes... And, it's simple to make one within FinalCutPro...

If you don't have QT7 and don't want to use h.264 I've got a compressor droplet that you can use. Works well.

Yes, you'll need compressor. Sorry. You must have FCP 3??

You could try using the standard Broadband High export from File-Quicktime Compression - Change Default to Broadband High and then change OPTIONS to video - Sorenson 3.

Good luck,

Hey, thanks, no, I acually have FCP4, but there are particuar reasons why I dont have compressor, and cant get it again, unless I buy FCP4 package. I do hae the sorenso 3 codec, so I will give that combination a try, I have another question though

I have 3 of the "H." Codecs, H.264, and two of lesser value, what are the differences, and are they all made to be for quicktime 7?

I'd recommend Sorenson 3 ... seems to have the right mix of compression quality to file size ...

I use IMA 4:1 for the audio ...
