What can I stick in this hole?

There's a hole in my bucket...

Well a threaded hole in the handle on the HPX170....

Does it have a name?

I presume it's for attachments of some sort?

What sort of wonderful attachments are available?

It's a standard 1/4" hole so you can mount whatever you wish. I mount my 7" LCD there. Sometimes a light.

I've also mounted a monopod to it and used the mono pod to make a shot with the cam inches from the floor. Kinda like an upside down stabilizer.

That's cool. Are there general use brackets you can get for it that you can attach stuff to?

I'm trying to use a small laptop for recording to, so it would be ideal if there was a way to mount that on there.

It is nit really meant to support the weight of a large laptop.........but if it is small. You could get a magic arm to handle it. i am not sure I would trust my computer or DATA on one. s

I would watch very closely how much weight you put at that mount.
I have a Panasonic BT-LH80W 7.9" mounted on a Cine Arm. Without Battery.
I power it remotely because I can see slight flex in the frame if I go over this weight.

Besides that, too much weight on top of a rig puts stress on everything in line, on top of your sticks.

You can find Manfrotto or any brand of heavy duty clamp, attach this to a lower leg on your sticks.
Much more stable and it removes the stress from everything else.

Man, my head went to all sorts of naughty places when i saw this subject line. I'm just sayin'. :)
