what can celtx do?

Hi,
I've read in several strings about people writing in final draft, importing to celtx for other things. I write in FD, and I've downloaded celtx and imported. I see all the different tabs, but they don't seem to do much. Can you make shot lists and production book things easier than just making them on word? If so let me in on the secret. I'm about to take a screenplay (short) that I'm to produce and direct myself...so if I can save steps all the better.
Thanks.
George

Celtx is pretty neat. I used it for my last project. It can organize gear needed or scenes, make call lists, it has a talent and crew database (with photos), all kinds of nice stuff. Darn fine program for free.

I consider myself a Celtx spokesperson. I absolutely love this gem! I use it to write, breakdown, schedule, and print every sort of report you can imagine. Oh, and you can choose to convert from a film to stage to a novel, or vis versa! About the only thing it won't do is add up your eighths, so I made a template out of cardboard and do that by hand. But, you can punch them into your scenes so you can schedule the picture easier.

If you want to write for TV though, forget it. Such an obvious thing they have omitted. Teleplay format.

True. I've never even looked into writing for TV. The formats it supports are: Film, AV, Theatre, Audio Play, Story Board, Comic Book, and Text. Still a lot of options for a free program. I don't shoot with a shot list, but I would think that if you wanted one, you'd have to have shots in the script to generate a report for those.
