What camera light to shoot parties?

I'm looking for a light that can attatch to the top of my dvx100 that will give me enough light to get a good picture in dark party like settings. Also, any recomendations for batteries? Will I need a battery belt for more than a couple hours?

How about wireless mics? What is considered professional?

TIA

I'm doing a club shoot in a few weeks and I was going to try out the Litepanels™ Mini @ http://www.litepanels.com/ from a local studio that rents them for $70/day.

I think it has a few advatanges. First the battery on this thing last a loooong time, so no battery belt needed. Second you can adjust the brightness from 0 to 100.. Which is nice when you want different levels of light. And you can also use it as filler light off the camera.

Is there any other light that would be less expensive and do much the same as the litepanels product. I need something less expensive right now. Also need to purchase the battery pack. Thanks.

Sony makes an on camera light that uses the same lithium ion batteries that the PD-170 uses. It has dual lamps, and I think each lamp is rated at 10 watts. You can switch just one on, or both. I have used it before, and if I'm not mistaken it's under 100 bucks, and actually works really well....

So here's an update on my experience with the litepanel from my night club shoot last weekend... one word "AWESOME!"

The best part about the light was the ability to use the dimmer. I set my zebras and then I would dim the light until they were gone which gave me fast source of good light without blowing out the subject. The rental unit came with a battery in a fanny pack and they didn't have the onboard battery option. This actually worked out for the best since my camera was already very front heavy from the Century Optics .7x WA. In total I used the light for about 6+ hours of coverage (non continuous) and it barely put a dent in the battery..
