What are you inspired by?

I'm inspired by other films I watch. Especially things like El Mariachi. I enjoy watching Robert's films to inspire me.

My wife is very similar. I have been here in Minneapolis for the past nine months. For the first three or four months I had projects from Canada to finish up, but after that I found my self in a new market, with very few contacts. It is like starting over again, but with higher expectations. My wife has been fantastic. She works for a great company, but it too gets tiresome for her. But she holds on and supports me. Giving me ideas, and leads. And yes, she is hot.

Movies like City of God...

Very inspiring movie!

Luis, your post about your wife hits really close to home. I'm not married yet, but I got a girl that has similar traits. It's always nice to have someone that is supportive and gives honest feedback (hard to find).

I think I'm inspired most by the world around me, and the people I run into and interact with on a daily basis. Taking yourself out of the box and transcending the constraints of society through creativity is a liberating experience. The only way to do so is dig in deep to the depths of the people that make up the human fabric that surrounds, and "feel" this fabric for what it is. Geniune and real.

Go 'wake her'. :)

Yeah - I can see it now - "hey sweetie, get up...that guy with the weird cowbell avatar told me to wake you up....hey, why are you so grumpy?.... ow... hey, stop it.... i swear i'll hit you back if i have to!.... seriously...stop it"

:)

something like that.

I like how you referred to me as "that guy with the weird cowbell avatar" as opposed to "that weird guy with the cowbell avatar". I'll take that as a compliment. :)

Yeah, Luis... you've got the World by the tail; too bad you can't get any... tail that is... until tomorrow anyway.:p

hahaahhhaah
nice.

you get pretty crass when the sun goes down.
you realize these words will still be here in the morning - for all the world to see.
:)

EDITED TO ADD:

Didn't this thread start out as "what inspires you?"

Crass, you say? I just viewed it as silliness. I realize inflection and such never comes across well over the internet. That line was typed with the font size getting smaller as if one's voice trailed off while speaking as they realize the silliness of what they were saying as they are saying it (hence the pauses indicated by ...). Get it? Sorry if I offended you.

Yeah, somewhere along the way it became all about Luis. :)

Inspiration? MUSIC! When I'm listening to some new records, I lay down on the couch, close my eyes and enjoy the music. Then pictures start coming to my mind, like I'm just watching TV. Story, angles, actors, music, everything in my head. I just have to write it down.
Unfortunately I'm no good at writing or drawing. But that's what I'm currently working on.

People, actually. The way they act, talk, communicate, etc. Music, like Marcus said, helps to "lead me"to a certain feeling and create a story with a certain feel and structure. However, all these stories have in common my own experiences with the way I interact with society and the people on it.

Stolen moments of truth. I wanna make people remember something, that feeling, spark something inside of them that brings them back to a certain instance of a visceral bang that they have carried with them (Proust?). Every great film I've seen made me FEEL, even if it was a longing for a feeling I have not experienced in the same way as the story relates. I want to take the audience member back to themself in some way. Don't know how clear that all is...sounding like a turd...uh, I'm outta here...
