What are 5 qualities that great directors share?

(Not in any order...)

1. Leadership
2. Certainty
3. People Skills (handling them with care to get the most from them)
4. Ability to speak when speaking is needed
5. Ability to listen when listening (not speaking) is needed

Notice none of those had anything to do with creativity or artistry...

You mean to tell me all one needs to do is get 1 of those and he will be a great director?

Dammit!!!! I don't have 1.

You can probably direct still, but you for sure not allowed into the DGA or any other prestigious director related organization!

The good news is the hat should be a bad fit, look extremely cheap & but worth less then $10

I don't know. My favorite directors are the Coens, Speilburg, Ron Howard and Hitchcock. Probably in that order. I don't know , what do they have in common?
Maybe they don't give a ****? Good place to start maybe, lol.

I think Pookie, then Blue Food pretty much said it all.

But if you're looking for a serious list, then you'll find plenty of contradictions to fit it. For everyone who makes a post showing the attributes of someone like Martin Scorsese or James Ivory, someone else can present you a director like Brett Ratner, or McG...

I'd say this is pretty much required to complete a film, any film. Even a lousy one that doesn't deserve free distribution.

Bit of talent doesn't hurt either.

We have a storyboard artist who can do a graphic novel whether he is sober, high, stressed or calm. I can't even draw a stick figure without evoking the gods of ridicule!

Some folks is just bloody marvelous story tellers is all... chuck in them brass balls and you've got a winning combo!
