What affordable cameras will Hollywood most recognize and let you use 4 reality shows

Maybe tone it down just a notch, Rob. Many of us use the RED and 5d together, and we're not as 'stupid' as we may seem. No reason for calling people names here.

And the fact remains, if you want to shoot on the largest video sensor available, you're stuck with the 5d for now... sometimes we do and the red sits idle. Again, a choice, not because we're students or the like.

Not a wise choice in my opinion, nor one I can respect as a cinematographer. Sorry. Also not one most networks will like, from very direct experience. Its' also a choice that, in the end, can cost you a bundle. I am not saying you or anyone are stupid, just that the choice is (assuming the means to do something else) - there's a huge difference.

I'm planning on selling my cameras hmc40, 7D and hmc150 because most the producers I work with want either a P2 or DV tape base. Why?
Why would you buy a camera for filming a production show is beyond me. Any decent company producing a show will buy cameras they want for the show. If you are a stringer you'll need P2 or XDCAm, as these are the 2 formats used in broadcast. I don't know how new XF Canon will do, but since it is 422 codec I bet it will do much better then any AVCHD. AVCHD is going to be impossible to sell as a stringer.

Respect for shooting with a certain camera? Is that what modern "cinematographers" are all about?

We began shooting our lowbudget documentary with a 7d and the Sony V1. After one day the V1 flew out and we got another 7d.

The look we can get with the 7d is completely crazy compared to 1/3" cameras. Yes, it doesn't match the RED but the RED is frankly very bad as a documentary camera.
